Rainbow Award Honorees Announced, Presentation at Evening of the Arts

Aggie Allies is proud to announce and congratulate the honorees of the Rainbow Award 2007–Mike Jackson and Tom Spellman. The Rainbow Award will be presented as part of the Evening of the Arts on Friday, April 13 at 7:30 pm in the Geren Auditorium in the Langford Architecture Building B. The award honors the demonstrated commitment to diversity for a person(s) serving as a role model and by contributing to the education of the Texas A&M University community regarding GLBT people and issues. Jackson and Spellman have demonstrated extraordinary leadership, impact and support for the local GLBT community for years. They have been long time, active members of the campus GLBT-Professional Network. They have also been avid supporters of AIDS Services of the Brazos Valley. Over the last two years, Jackson and Spellman have become prominent officers of Brazos Valley QueSt. Through QueSt, they work with a team to plan fundraising events which support GLBT organizations, programming and scholarships. Their leadership and support have allowed several groups to organize educational programs and provide a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all GLBT students, faculty, staff and community members. Through this diverse and extraordinary involvement and impact, Jackson and Spellman have earned the Rainbow Award 2007. Aggie Allies also recognizes and appreciates the achievements of all the Rainbow Award 2007 nominees, including: Sara Bendoraitis, Dustin Grabsch, Lowell Kane, and Claudette Peterson. Campus and community members are invited to congratulate Jackson, Spellman and all nominees, as well as enjoy some delicious cake, at the Evening of the Arts on Friday, April 13.
